Pathways for Australian Veterinary Volunteers Abroad (PAVVA) is a non-profit organisation that provides a free informational service for Australian vets and veterinary nurses who would like to volunteer their time and skills to help in clinics locally and around the world.

Pathways was co-founded in 2008 by Belinda Riley RVN, an Administrator at a veterinary nursing college in Perth, and Gabby Lewis, a photojournalist with a passion for raising awareness of animal welfare issues.

Our aims are:

  • To provide non-profit animal welfare groups with volunteer specialised help
  • To provide exposure for non profit animal welfare groups
  • To provide vets and vet nurses with specific information on volunteering
  • Promote skill sharing knowledge between volunteers and international animal carers
  • Provide an avenue for self education and practical experience
  • Support the rescue, rehabilitation and release of the sick, injured and endangered
  • Raise awareness of animal welfare issues

We call it Pathways because we have created a clear path from your desire to help, to getting you there and doing it.

Volunteers choose which Pathway they wish to follow and from then on it's all up to you!
